Brandon Schmidt has ended his debut season in the EuroMoto Kawasaki ZX6-R Cup in fifth place overall after climbing onto the podium for the fourth time in the final race of the season at the Hockenheimring this past weekend.

A steady start to the weekend on Friday, the #13 post the third best time in Q2 to qualify sixth overall ahead of the final two races of the year.

A solid fifth in Saturday’s opening twelve lap encounter gave Brandon confidence for Sunday. The Bike Smith rider starting strongly before involving himself in a multi rider battle for the podium. He crossed the line third, narrowly missing P2 by a couple of tenths of a second.

Brandon’s fourth podium in five races mean he finishes the year only fourteen points shy of second overall – an impressive result for the big bike rookie.

Brandon Schmidt:

“I made a good start in race one but on lap three or four I made a small mistake and lost the front group, but I was able to maintain the gap to the guys ahead but ended P5 after a bit of a lonely race. Race two was a good race. I made another good start moving into P4 from P6 on the grid. I had a good pace, and I was able to catch the leaders by mid-race. I was a bit unlucky lapping a rider and lost a bit of time which maybe cost me P2 but there was no possibility to pass which is a little disappointing. Nevertheless, it was great to bring home another podium in front of so many friends and sponsors who were at the track, and it was a nice way to end the year. I want to thank everyone who has helped me this season and let’s move forward next year and see what we can do!”

Brandon’s plans for 2027 will be announced shortly.
